Three premieres at Borough New Music
WORLD PREMIERES by Sam Hayden,Tomas Peire and Patrick Nunn are included in José’s recital at Borough New Music, London on 3 October 2017. His performance marks the opening recital of Series 2, in which the piano is the featured instrument, starting a season of 34 concerts, that involves 122 composers, 49 performers and 37 premieres.
‘Goyescas’ CD launches
The IBS Classical label is delighted to launch a new CD, ‘Goyescas’ by Enrique Granados, performed by José Menor. Released in July 2017, the CD takes a refreshing look at this quintessentially Spanish work and its surrounding sketches. The launches will place in London, Barcelona and Madrid. Purchase on Amazon.
Menor’s ‘New Crossroads’ performed in Seville & Pamplona
The piano étude, ‘New Crossroads’ composed by José Menor, was commissioned by the CNDM (Centro Nacional de Difusión Musical) in 2016. Menor premiered the work at Alicante Auditorium (ADDA) in February 2017 and it was recorded at RNE (Spanish National Radio), Radio Clásica’s “Estudio 206”, in March (listen again here.) Further performances of ‘New Crossroads’ are programmed for La Maestranza Theatre, Seville on 28 October 2017, and Palacio Baluarte, Pamplona on 13 March 2018.
Granados’ 100 Years Tour
This year, José Menor completes his survey of Granados’ solo piano and chamber works, having been Resident Pianist of the official Granados Centenary Commission in Lleida (birthplace of Granados) throughout 2016-17. After rave reviews and a standing ovation at his Carnegie Hall solo recital, José went on to perform ‘Goyescas’ at the ‘Meet in Beijing’ Arts Festival in China, the Martha Argerich Festival in Lugano, Switzerland, St John’s Smith Square, London, and venues in Cyprus, Germany, Italy, Belgium and Spain, amongst many others.
